Day 5 - Five Places to Visit
The topic for today is to share five places I want to visit. Well, I want to visit anywhere and everywhere, so I didn’t want to do that. But, I did plan a wonderful day for myself and visited 5 places I love.
I started my day with delicious, decaffeinated, cherry flavored, coffee. I found a great tasting decaffeinated coffee I LOVE from a local roastery (Escobar’s Blend from Columbia St. Roastery). Got all the kids off to school, showered, put on a cute outfit and was ready for my venture around town.
Visit 1 - The Champaign County Habitat for Humanity Restore
I love browsing the Restore and haven’t been to their new, much larger, location. My dad came with me! We were on a mission to find picture frames to fit an 18x24in drawing and a 26x30in drawing. Good news! I found 2 new Pyrex baking dishes, 3 small picture frames, a football popcorn bowl, and new spoons. No dice on the frames…
Visit 2 - Courier Cafe
I’m not sure how we have lived here for a decade and only recently started going to Courier Cafe. I have only had their lunch menu for delicious sandwiches and sweet potato chips, but they have breakfast and dinner too. The special today was a hand battered cod sandwich - I love a fish sandwich! I decided to get the same cod on the fish tacos, instead, and a trip to the salad bar. Hubtastic was my companion for this birthday lunch, and it was perfect.
Visit 3 - The Stephens Family YMCA
After lunch, I convinced my date to accompany me to my office and help me rearrange furniture. I really know how to have a good time, don’t I? I love rearranging rooms. The girls in the office couldn’t believe I was spending my birthday moving a desk, but now my space is turning into a nice little area to work. My helper and I drove separately on this adventure so I could continue on my journey to the next destination.
Visit 4 - Karen’s Kloset
I love Karen’s Kloset. It’s a fabulous, (mostly) women's clothing resale shop. The store is right next to the gymnastics academy child 3 attends. I browsed for about an hour and found some great items. Three pairs of pants and six or seven tops for less than $140. I LOVE A GOOD DEAL! Karen’s Kloset has a great variety of clothes, including name brand and designer styles. I recommend you check it out. In fact, I’ll happily go with you!
Visit 4.5 - Nothing Bundt Cakes and Freddy’s Frozen Custard
I had to pick up a birthday cake! I chose three small cakes - lemon, classic vanilla, and strawberries n cream. These little cakes are delicious and all have a really tasty cream cheese frosting on top. I also decided I wanted a snack, so I headed next door for a butterscotch milkshake and bottled water.
My day has been great! On the way home from my romp around town, I picked up child 1 from the library. The school bus was in the driveway dropping off child 2 and 3 just as we were pulling in. Time to hang out until it’s time for my 5th place to visit.
Visit 5 - BodyWork Associates
I had the most amazing massage. The room was the perfect temperature, the music relaxing, and the masseuse kneaded out any tensions in my body. I have decided a massage is going to be on my birthday agenda every year, and possibly monthly from here on out.
Well, there you have it. I planned a day for myself to celebrate another year around the sun. I did everything and anything I wanted and it was the absolute best. Now off to thank everyone for all the wishes on the social medias.
Thanks for hanging around these first 5 days of my writing challenge! I appreciate you taking the time to read and comment!
